Life can be a bit of a roller coaster at times.
Maybe you’re worried about your health, your family, your job or your finances. Perhaps there’s too much to do and not enough hours in the day. Maybe things are starting to slip out of control. And on top of all that, you find you can’t switch off and get a good night’s sleep at the end of the day.
Go back 25 years, and that’s how it was for me.
I was overwhelmed at work and could barely keep my head above water. I had research studies to conduct, staff to manage, client meetings to attend and public speaking commitments to fulfil. I just couldn’t come up for air. What’s more, I often found myself working with people who had very different values to my own.
On the brighter side, my family and social life was brimming over. I played lots of sport, went to concerts and exhibitions, took up new hobbies and enjoyed eating out with friends. But looking back, I realise I never stopped.
Worst of all, two personal relationships ran their course and finished with all the emotional turmoil that a parting brings.
The Wake-Up Call
I’d always been a worrier, but kept going, no matter what.
Then came that awful moment when I felt like I was going round in a bubble, disconnected from the rest of the world. I could see out, but felt so isolated from everything going on round me. Struggling to cope and get a grip, my body just gave up. Turns out my immune system was shot to bits.
I knew I needed help getting my physical strength and stamina back, but it also dawned on me that if I wanted to find peace of mind and lasting happiness, something had to change.
And that was the turning point.
The Path to Happiness
Little by little, I discovered some amazing techniques that helped me get back on track. Life’s difficulties seemed easier to sort out. Things that would have sent my stress level soaring became more manageable. And demanding people weren’t so difficult to deal with. Things started looking up.
Best of all, situations that would have filled me with fear lost their hold over me. They became challenges to overcome and move on. I found I could handle things that I previously thought were impossible. And each time this happened, my confidence went up a notch. I was over the moon!
Along the way, I also realised that if I wanted to find lasting happiness and contentment, I had to be true to myself…to listen to the song inside of me and be guided by the still, small voice at the back of my mind.
No matter what’s happening on the outside, I discovered you can remain calm and relaxed on the inside.
Peace of Mind at Last
Since going on this life-changing journey, my new approach has been put to the test many times, often in heart rending situations. But through it all, I’ve come to appreciate that if you stay true to yourself, and adopt a few simple, transformational techniques, you’ll find the peace you’re looking for.
