Take a couple of minutes to listen to Oprah as she explains why you must listen to life’s whispers.
Life Whispers to You
Oprah explains that there have been many times when she has wanted to say to people on her show: why didn’t you pay attention to your life?
She points out that listening to your life as it whispers to you first…so it doesn’t have to knock you upside your head with a brick or come crashing down on you like a brick wall…is one of the greatest principles of life. There are many things that happen that are beyond our control, such as natural disasters, death or unexplained events. But there are also many things in life that we can control. And they become out of control, because we’re just not paying attention. We are sleep walking through life.
You Need to Pay Attention
This is what Oprah has learned.
Life whispers to you all the time. Life is speaking to you from the time you wake up in the morning through every single experience that’s coming into your personal space. All of these experiences are speaking to you; they are telling you something about your life and your circumstances. Life whispers and if you don’t get the whisper, the whisper gets louder. If you don’t get the whisper when it gets louder, it gets like a little pebble, a little thump, upside your head.
When Oprah was a kid, if she was doing something her grandmother didn’t like, she would just turn round and thump her. And Oprah would know that was her cue to stop it, or things were going to get worse.
The whisper is the message. The pebble upside the head is when it’s gone into a problem. If you don’t pay attention to the problem, the problem becomes a brick upside your head. The brick upside your head is a crisis. Then if you don’t pay attention to the brick upside your head, the crisis turns into a disaster and the whole house comes falling down.
The morale of the tale is to listen to life’s whispers.
